Juliana Chan is the name and driving force behind Juliana’s Wedding & Event Center. A native of Hong Kong trained in fine Chinese cuisine, Juliana opened her first restaurant – Juliana’s Chinese Kitchen – in 1986 in Ponchatoula. The success and popularity of the small restaurant prompted her to move, expand, and rename the restaurant in 1989. Far from the standard “Americanized” Chinese buffet food, the new restaurant gained a reputation for serving from-scratch, fresh Chinese cuisine. More than 25 years later, China Lotus in Hammond is still the premier Chinese restaurant on the Northshore.
Juliana has approached her newest venture – Juliana’s Wedding & Event Center – with the same hardworking vigor, charm, and wit that enabled her to raise five children and operate a beloved local restaurant for so many years. A gifted host and savvy business owner, Juliana has a sharp eye for detail and a core belief in quality food and service.
Don Jones is a veteran New Orleans sales and management executive with an extensive background in developing new businesses. Don served as president and CEO of NewOrleans.com, and co-founded YPSolutions and the Hammack-Jones Group. Through Hammack, Hammack, Jones, LLC, Don has partnered with Juliana Chan in the ownership and operations of Juliana’s Wedding and Event Center in Ponchatoula.
Executive chef Kevin Gregory knows Louisiana cuisine. Born and raised in Independence, Gregory launched his culinary career working in his family’s restaurant. After graduating from the Louisiana Culinary Institute, Gregory worked kitchen stints at Café Nola in Ponchatoula and other area restaurants before landing the job that prepared him for running Juliana’s catering operation. As banquet chef at Southeastern Louisiana University, Gregory sharpened his skills as a high-volume, quality caterer and focused his sights on one goal: running his own catering kitchen. Harnessing years of experience and the good fortune of working with many influential, talented chefs, Gregory brings tremendous enthusiasm, knowledge, and a love of fine food to Juliana’s.
Alyssa Dino is a certified wedding and event planner from Walker, Louisiana. She is a recent graduate of Allie Wester’s School of Planning & Event Institute. Alyssa is passionate about her profession and enjoys assisting couples with planning their special day. As Juliana’s wedding coordinator and bridal assistant, Alyssa communicates with our clients and organizes all the details for each event, ensuring that each guest receives a stress free, memorable experience. Alyssa’s goal is to eventually be an independent wedding planner, with an emphasis on destination weddings. With her experience and enthusiasm, Alyssa is a great asset to the Juliana team.
